Commanding yet quiet, Bare Earth rises in a clean, cylindrical silhouette, its surface carved with deep vertical ribbing that catches light and shadow in equal measure. An earth-toned reactive glaze, with toasted terracotta breaking through distressed cream, gives it a weathered, almost gourd-like skin, and its natural color variation means no two are exactly alike. From its narrow mouth, bold protea, sculptural fantail willow and soft baby-blue eucalyptus spill outward in a wild, sun-bleached spray — a well-traveled gathering of stems native to South Africa, Asia and Australia.
